Hearing is as important as vision. Our ears help us hear and also help our body maintain balance or equilibrium. The ear has three main parts namely outer ear, middle ear and inner ear. A- Outer Ear The outer ear consists of the pinna, the auditory canal, and the ear drum (tympanum). The pinna is a broad outer part, made of cartilage and covered by skin. It helps conduct sound waves to the auditory canal. The wall of the auditory canal contains special glands that secrete wax and protect the ear from small insects, germs and dust. In addition, they help maintain the temperature and humidity of the ends of the auditory canal in the ear drum.
MIDDLE EAR middle ear is a chamber after external ear. three small bones, called middle ear. these movable bones include malleus, incus and stapes malleus is attached with ear drum , then comes incus and finally stapes that is connected with a membrane called oval window . oval window separates middle ear from inner ear . middle ear also communication with the nasal cavity through eustachain tube. this tube regulation the air pressure on both side of ear drum. inner ear consist of three part i.e vestibule , semicircular canals and cochlea vestibule is present in the center of the ear three canals called semicircular canals are posterior to the vestibule the cochlea is made of three ducts and wraps it self into a coiled tube
